Joy was awarded her Master of Photography degree at the 2003 Professional Photographers of America International Convention in Las Vegas. She has gained the Photographic Craftsman Degree and is a Certified Professional Photographer. Joy is a Past President of the Professional Photographers of North Carolina and holds the Photographic Fellowship Degree.

Joy joined her fathers business, Burnie Batchelor Studio in 1985 and has never looked back. Joy has attained the highest levels of accomplishment in the photographic community, earning the Master Photographic Craftsman degree and becoming a Certified Professional Photographer, a designation held by fewer than 4% of imaging professionals world wide.
