In 1982, Steve Mallin enrolled in the Art Institute of Pittsburgh to study commercial photography. After attending the Institute, he started working professionally, learning from many other photographers in the industry. During his career, Steve has collaborated with over 30 different photographers, acquiring many tricks of the trade and is continually perfecting his craft with each new project.
Mallin Photography can accommodate your photographic needs with our state of the art equipment in our Raleigh studio. We are now located in our home studio, and adapting to the pandemic and changing business environment. We plan to be in business for many years to come. Our home studio is not as large as the Brier Creek studio, but most jobs are easily accommodated.
We contacted Mallin Photography for new package photography of Lancaster's Barbecue, which is sold in Sam's Club. Steve assembled a professional team consisting of a graphic artist, food stylist and himself. He produced fantastic photos in the studio and went above and beyond to obtain off-site background photography to compliment the food photos.

I commissioned Mallin Photography for a long-distance project. I was able to mail my product examples to their studio for photo shooting. In my case, the products were small: components of a new trading card game I developed this past year and wish to sell. To sell well, one needs visual representation. Afterwards the products were mailed back. I chose to get this representation via photography, in order to have visuals of "the real thing, " and not just my digital artwork of the cards.
Real sells better! I found this studio via browser surf, plus some reddit feedback, and was impressed by their examples on their website. So I decided to ask for a commission. Product photos are very clean and well-done. Steve's studio has plenty of equipment to do standard as well as complex shots. I was able to request a series of photo frames for a smooth 180 rotation, still shots, and a more complicated setup of several product components. Post-editing composites and clean-up expectations were easily met and surpassed. Steve's got high skill in that area, and did it much faster and better than I ever could with my home software tools.

Steve is extremely talented and provided an outstanding set of shots for our new product manual. He worked with me on every shot and meticulously laid out our products so that they would be seen in the best light (no pun intended). Steve is skilled in many areas of professional photography but the photos that got my attention was his food photography. It is amazing how he and his team capture the real food in a way you can almost taste it. I got a tour of the place and was so impressed with his studio and expert knowledge. What most impressed me is how he uses a high-end tilt lens to get unique shots in focus that can not be accomplished with a regular lens.
