This would've been a five star review if it wasn't for his awkward and rude personality Was met with when working with Rod. I came in for the Mondays suck special. I understand that it's $99 but it's still money that I'm paying and I have expectations of good service and being treated with respect. I did not feel comfortable being photographed by him.
Simply because he was not friendly from the beginning. I had also booked the make up artist and she was very nice really personable and treated me well. However when I had to do my shoot with Rod he was so dry and I didn't feel very confident Working with him as a result. Especially when he smirked and gave this almost mocking expression when I was posing and trying to work on a different look, as I was trying to get more comfortable in front of the camera.
He definitely made me feel like I did not belong there. I just think that as a photographer it's your job to help build up the confidence of your client so that they can show their personality and be relaxed in front of the camera. Not everyone is photogenic not everyone is a pro at taking pictures. And in the acting business it's already so critical and so hard to break through.
It doesn't help when a photographer you're paying is also dismissing you and treating you as though you're insignificant. As far as the quality of photos you get what you pay for and there were some very good shots in there. But overall my experience with him as a photographer I wouldn't recommend to someone that is new to the industry and someone that is not comfortable being photographed.
I don't believe that Rod is passionate about what he does. I think some people get into photography for the money but they hate doing their job. It was clear that he didn't want to be their.

Amazing head shots - the retouching was perfect - the finished product was - ME! I just picked up my pictures from Reproductions and the head shots take my breath away! I have never seen such natural, beautifully composed pictures! Rod is an incredibly talented photographer, but his most valuable assets are the patience, heart and empathy that allow him to capture the essence of the person being shot.
Although when I arrived for the appointment I was nervous, uncomfortable, and self-conscious, Rod's "zen", expertise, and helpful advice put me at ease and resulted in a myriad of pictures from which to choose - freaking unbelievable! What a truly fabulous experience from start to finish! Highly recommended!

This is my second attempt to post. I have to apologize to Rod for taking so long to write this, but long story short Rod is phenomenal to work with. My first photo shoot was AMAZING and he made me feel so comfortable and at ease. He gave me tips that i will be forever grateful for. I definitely got my money's worth. I've been getting so many compliments on my headshots (which i will post shortly) and I can not say enough to people about my overall experience with Rod. Rod.thank you, thank you, thank you so very much.

An actor's headshot is their calling card. I know you've heard that phrase a plenty. It is absolutely TRUE. But Rod can help you show your best side for your headshots. *** I had 2 separate sessions with him both on Mondays for the MONDAY SUCKS deal ($99, now it is $129 per session). The session is for 30 minutes and if you want hair/make-up person in attendance extra fees apply.
He has his lady pug running around keeping his customers entertained as the shot is being set up. *** Editing your shots takes around 3-7 days and you do get 1 retouched version on cd per session. His other photography deals are affordable as well. *** Quality work.

What can I say, not only does Rod have a spacious large studio with awesome lighting, but the prices are reasonable and the results are fantastic! I have had sessions with other photogs where I spent hundreds of dollars and was not as pleased with the session options. I just had my 3rd photo session with Rod! My first session was chosen by Backstage.com as an example of "What a great Headshot looks like".so enough said.
Since then, every casting person I have met says how great my shots are! He lets you choose your background music, and is extremely knowledgeable about the market. Easy flowing conversation helps to relax even the most nervous clientele. And did I mention the great lighting?!

I've worked with Rod three times looking for different things each time, and been very happy with my results. Rod is a very personable photographer who helps make the process of getting the look you want easy and attainable. Additionally, the guy simply has a eye for taking good shots, using appropriate lighting, and knowing what works on you. I wouldn't pass up the opportunity to work with him.

Rod is an outstanding headshot photographer with the most competitive prices. I've seen him 3 times, all for the Mondays suck session, which is not for everybody and he is very clear about that. It is a shorter session with 1 look and you get a high res, incredible quality photo from it so it's on you to show up prepared and ready to go.
He is awesome about everything. He will relax you and get you to smile or go for whatever brings out the best qualities in you. I've ALWAYS been happy with the selection of photos from our sessions. Last one I got at least 4 or 5 keepers that really represent me as an actor and the roles I want to play. I just picked up my high res copy and it's great. I will definitely be back to see Rod and I recommend him to anyone, either for his full sessions or the discounted Monday sessions. Thanks Rod~

I love my headshots! I've had headshots taken several times over the years and Rod hands down produced the best ones for me. He did a great job of helping me articulate exactly what I wanted to convey in my photos. His eye is impeccable and the framing and lighting and angles came out perfectly. He knew I needed it rushed to get the headshot into a program on time and he turned around the processing very quickly. He's awesome and professional and you will love the results. GO!

Let me just start off by saying that i absolutely hate taking pictures, it always feels so uncomfortable to me. That was not the case with Rod, he has created an atmosphere that puts you at ease from the second you walk into the studio and after a few minuted of shooting I even forgot someone was taking my picture because we were just having such a fun time and conversation which is what makes his pictures so natural and organic. I LOVED every second of my photo shoot and I highly recommend Rod to anyone looking for amazing pictures and a really fun time :-

Wow, I have to say the $99 Mondays Sucks Special is the best. Usually as an actor u see headshots for $99 and u run the other way its usually a hit and miss photographer. But Rod was sooooo fantatsic, on first glance at his site "I was like wow he looks to good to be true, whats the catch" There was none. Very great studio (probably the nicest and neatest in NY), he is so cool he really does put you at ease.
My only issue, is that I had sooo many great pics to choose from, like thats ever a bad thing, lol They were so great, unretouched, I was able to share the link with a few casting directors and my agent to look at without worrying about displaying bad pics. It's been a few months and I thought to go back through the archive for updated pictures and there were still such great options. So, after I got these headshots, wow, my bookings went up like 80% and so did auditions.
My last headshots were pretty good but I still managed to get an audition a week and I was submitting all over casting networks as usual. As soon as I got these shots back I got called into 5 auditions the next day, and 12 auditions the next week. I ended up booking 4 independant films that month. I knew from that point, that people were right when they say that good headshots that capture you can really make or break your career and that it is the initial inroduction between yourself and a casting agent that makes them want to bring you in, in the first place.
I really thank people like this in the industry who really contribute to making actors job easier, he is a really good photographer that has found away to not have us scrapping for pennies to get headshots. Its been 3 mths and yes I am still booking and I am still excited about the headshots. Also note, that usually meeting casting directors or agents they always hate my headshots, twice last month I had 2 casting directors in a commerical and a daytime tv class use all 3 of my headshots as examples of good marketing tools to have. (Wow, Rod even gave me cool points in front of casting directors lol) Sharri Jones Actress www.sharrijones.com :) http://www.sharrijones.com/www.sharrijones.com/Blog_%26_NEWS/Entries/2010/4/2_New_Headshots_1_week_trial_run.html
