Thornton Studio

This studio was recommended by the graduate school I attend. First, I'm directed to a website in which I could schedule an appointment! It might sound little, but I took pictures at a Long Island studio last December for my bachelors, and their website was elaborate, but had no scheduling system. Second, the photographer I sat with, Michael J. (I don't want to butcher the spelling of his last name), actually cared!

He explained things, asked if it was ok to adjust my hair, knew how to fix my masters hood and made sure my eyelids didn't look droopy and my tassel stopped being staticky. Last week I received an email with user friendly directions and previews of my photos. They came out great, and I don't like pictures. Overall, the process was simple, the photographer was super friendly and their prices are reasonable compared to other places. Highly recommend!

Absolutely terrible. Ordered my graduation photos over a month ago. Cost me $300. I've been trying to get in contact with them about the status and no one ever got back to me. I have no idea if my order has shipped or anything. Terrible

Other people have talked about the pricing, so I'm not going to talk about that. My issue is that in some of the photos, you can clearly tell that the gown was sliding off, and yet the photographer didn't even bother to let me know so that I can pull it up. It makes me look sloppy in my graduation photos. The session was only like 5 minutes but I wish the photographer would have taken 5 seconds to let me know to pull up the fake gown they put on me.

Very nice place. My photographer was names Michael. He is the kindest person and took very beautiful pictures of me also cheered me up.

1. The staffs there seem so rush and unwelcoming. 2. Dirty and stuffy studio which made me really uncomfortable 3. One of the 2 photographers was quite rude, he asked me are you from. (country's name).? I said yes and asked him how did he know? he said I have a weird name. So, people whose name aren't John, Michael or Becky aren't American in his eyes, got it. 4.

The price is ridiculously expensive. $100 for 1 digital download + ownership. 5. My photos came out good but it doesn't compensate for the overall quality of the studio. Go somewhere else.

Don't go - as someone mentioned before this place have predatory pricing! Interaction with photographer itself was fine and all, but pricing is completely outrageous! For some reason, ordering prints will be cheaper than digital, if you buy 1 print for $40 than you get every additional for $10, buy if you want to buy digital it's going to cost you $99(!) and every additional $99 again!

It doesn't make any sense. Aren't you going to use tangible materials to print and ship+labor cost, why digital is more expensive? Plus, I have to mention you will get zero retouching, not even the slightest correction, my face so shiny - it will blind you.

Photographers are terrible, my gown was crooked and he took the photos with no thought. my eyes were half closed in several of them. my proofs came out really bad, everything that could have been bad was bad. there was no chance for me to look in a mirror and fix my hair, etc. everything was sloppy and poorly done. i appeared to be slouching in the photos, the photographer gave no direction so that the photos could come out well.

City College needs to stop using them for graduation portraits because their quality of photos are so trash and OUTRAGEOUSLY expensive. I could get far far better head shots for $75. please do not go here.

Other than really having a heart time finding the entrance to the building, the team up there were fast, fantastic and the photographer was extraordinary. Talk about professionalism and gifted. I've not seen the pictures yet, but I'm totally positive it will be amazing. Please support these guys and the talents they have up there.

First things first my graduation pictures came out horrible, Despite my photographer being black, he does not know how to photograph black people. Second off, this place is overly expensive. My photos obviously need touching up and they charge 30 for that, that should be free. As a photographer your work should be good to where you don't need to color correct! Thirdly while the staff was nice they talk way too much and it makes you feel awkward because you have to laugh at their corny jokes. You can see how awkward I felt in my photos. I will not reschedule a retake as I wasted money on toll, gas, and parking just to get there.

This is not a good service offered for photos. I'd recommend any other place in a heartbeat. The photos taken for my graduation were poor, the photographer did little to help bring out a smile or make me relax during the shoot. The photographer was disinterested, and slightly rude. I did not feel they cared about what they were doing. Additionally, the pricing model they have on their website is atrocious.

They do not let you download more than 1 digital picture, they force you to buy all of the pictures in the grouping, this is ridiculous. If out of 11 pictures you only liked two, you're now forced to pay the full price for all of them. Predatory pricing practices, poor customer service (judging from the litany of other reviews I've read), and bad pictures is an absolute no go. Stay far away, you're better off using your own phone than this company.
