This site is fairly new but our shop has been serving Kalamazoo and the Southwest Michigan area since 1987. We took over for Pro-Tech Camera Repair which started in 1980 and expanded services to include camera sales, photo finishing and professional photography. Due to changes in the industry and the fact that every drug store in town put in a mini lab we decided to back off on some of our extra services and concentrate on the things we do best and that the mass market folks can't do.We are one of very few full service camera and photographic equipment repair shops in the country and the only one in Southwest Michigan.
As I mentioned on the About Us page Universal Photo is one of very few full service camera repair shops in the country. We offer quality service on all major brands of 35mm, medium and large format film cameras and many related accessories right here in our shop. We do our very best to restore your "old friend" to good working order and as close to "like new" condition as possible.

Fred is terrific. Looked over a couple of lenses for me and gave me some tips when our local camera store wouldn't give me the time of day. He's a kind guy who does some pretty neat work. If you ever need lenses worked on, he's your man! It's not often I'll go out of my way to give someone my business, but I'm already looking for busted lenses online so that I can support a wonderful local business!

They saved the day. I broke a friends digital camera and thought I was going to have to either buy a new one or shell out hundreds for a repair. I brought the camera in to Universal Photographic Services and the owner was able to repair the broken piece and had the camera working good as new in less than a half an hour. The prices were very fair and the quality of work was a great surprise.
