Julia's work is artful and full of heart. She captures the feeling of a moment so you'll have the moment long after it passes. She also captures the essence of the people she's photographing. Her technical craft is superb: lighting, composition, etc. She's also a wonderful human being to work with. She's calm, fun, adaptable and loveable. Julia has done two shoots for me.
The first was for my professional website. The process was thoroughly delightful and I was thrilled with the results. When I got engaged, there was only one photographer we wanted for our wedding-Julia. Luckily she was available and again we were thrilled with the results. Our friends and families loved her presence and my husband and I marvel at the shots she got because we barely noticed her shooting away. She captured the beauty of the venue and the special moments and feelings so that we get to relive them every day.

Julia's newborn portraits of our son are among our most treasured things from those early days of parenthood. She is patient, funny, considerate, and completely at ease among kids. We've also had her take family portraits and certainly plan on hiring her to shoot newborn portraits of our second (due spring 2012). I had the opportunity to work with Julia at Skiing Magazine and have always found her to be a wonderful mix of professional and casual. She has no pretense. She's absolutely great to work with and a fantastic photographer.

Julia captures the intimate moments that make life worth preserving. We had a maternity shoot with her, and she helped freeze a moment in time when our family was on the cusp of our new addition. Also, I worked with Julia at BACKPACKER magazine, and she was a top-notch photo editor who helped the magazine stay on deadline and win awards.
