Growing up in Manhattan, KS, my father was a hobbyist photographer and I was his little assistant in the darkroom. I was fascinated with it all from an early age and began learning more through my local 4-H group. After having gone into the corporate world as a young adult, I soon realized I needed to follow my heart and get back to photography.
Your maternity session is about feeling deeply at ease and letting go of any anxieties or judgement. During your session, you'll find everything else falls away, except for a new and beautiful appreciation for yourself, and a lasting connection to the miracle of carrying a child. Maternity photos are best done 4-6 weeks prior to your due date (but we can do them anytime you wish).
We have been specializing in newborn baby photography for years, and we know what we're doing! We have literally photographed hundreds of newborns. Currently we are doing newborn sessions in-studio or in the comfort of your home (please ask for details). I can book up a month or so in advance (especially during the busy times (late summer, fall, and around holidays).
Photos can be taken in-studio or on-location, and we have multiple spots around the Kansas City area that we love to photograph at, or we can photograph at your favorite location as well. After the initial phone conversation, we sit down for an in-person consultation (usually 15 or so minutes in length) where we discuss outfits, location, and the details of what you are envisioning for your photo shoot.

I scheduled my son's senior pics at the very end of the school year, there was not much time before he graduated. Christy was very accommodating and worked me in right away. The day of the shoot she was AMAZING! She was able to get sooooo many good pictures of my son. The area she choose was perfect too! I wanted an urban shoot, and she nailed it!
She was perfectly on time, very personable, and put my son (and me) at ease. I cannot tell you how much I enjoyed the day, it was perfect. She helped me to create a memory I will cherish forever For sure I will be calling her again! She's my photographer now! Thanks Christy!

Booked with Happy Chick three weeks before senior picture day and Christy kept in contact with us the entire time. She was so easy to work with but yet very professional, creative ideas and lots of options for different photo back drops. It was a really great experience for my daughters senior pictures. I did a Boudoir photo shoot as a Father's Day gift for my husband. This was the first time I have ever been in front of a camera, let alone taking such intimate photos. Christy was an absolute professional and took all appropriate precautions to ensure we were comfortable due to COVID. Our session was outdoors, she wore a mask and gloves, sanitized all equipment, and kept her distance whenever possible. We are thankful to have these pictures as memories during this unprecedented time!

We've been taking family photos with Christy for over 10 years! Her newborn packages and Santa sessions were great when our kids were young. Christy was SO wonderful to work with! She was accommodating to our crazy schedule getting our family photo session scheduled and once we arrived she was great all around. She was professional and flexible with allowing us to request certain backgrounds and poses and she was especially great with our children and making sure they were comfortable.
We got our proofs back to review the same day as our photo shoot which I was definitely not expecting but was SO grateful for! Once I chose my package I had the final pics within a few days, again, amazing! I would definitely recommend Christy and we will be asking her to take our family pics again in the near future!

Christy is excellent to work with. My teenage son was reluctant to have his photo taken but she made the experience an enjoyable one, and the urban KC backdrop was perfect for his senior photos. I had the link to the photos the next day and was so pleased with the quality of Christy's work. Affordable pricing and great service!
