Originally from New Zealand she now lives in the countryside of Pawling, NY with her husband, daughters and a menagerie of animals.
The Artful Baby Pregnancy Photography Janette feels it is truly an honor to be able to preserve memories for you at this exceptional moment. This is the time a woman is at her most beautiful. Her body in a sense becomes more hers and less hers. As pregnancy/maternity photographers we see the pregnant body as a.
Newborns are precious miracles. They change our world in a way we never expect. It is a treasure to capture this newborn moment because it is so short lived. Before you know it, two months have passed your little wonder has already changed. It is also probably the most difficult age to capture successfully by a novice.
Janette prefers to wait till a baby is sitting up for this photo session which can be anywhere from 5 months to 12 months. While it is possible to take baby photos before. After a newborn photography session the next session for your child is a baby photography session. While it is possible to take baby photos before this stage, and certainly the minute your baby is genuinely smiling and laughing is a photo you should take however Janette recognizes that hiring a baby photographer is an investment and feel the best time for this investment is at birth and then at 5-12 months.

I have not come across another preschool quite like The Artful Child. My son has been attending for only a few months, but already I can see how the experience has totally opened his world - he has discovered the magic of creating artwork, and developed a new confidence that can only come from being independent & meeting new friends, while in a safe and highly nurturing environment. Teachers Jessie and Alanna are clearly exceptional educators (as well as human beings) and they create such a warm, positive and calm energy for all the kids.
My son is already so fond of them both, telling us endless stories about them and rest of his "Artful" friends throughout the rest of the week. I feel so lucky to have found this gem of a school, and so grateful that he will continue to have the opportunity to learn, grow and develop there next fall. Thank you so much Jessie and Alanna for everything you do for our little people!

The Artful Child is an amazing preschool filled with compassion, creativity, care, inspiration and full support for children to be their full selves! My daughter has been attending for the past year and feels completely confident in the space and loves the freedom to try new arts projects and explore through the various arts mediums provided. Jessie and Alanna are incredibly responsive to each child's needs and have made my daughter feel so welcomed, so at home and so supported! She loves learning and playing with them! I highly recommend the Artful Child!

The Artful Child is is one of the most magical places that I've experienced for my children. Immediately upon entering, there is an instant feeling of calm and joy and inspiration. The children are free to explore their own creativity through a vast variety of art based activities. The staff are beyond incredible and meet each child where they are at, allowing the kids here to develop and gain their confidence in the most beautiful way.
It is so amazing to have such a special place where my kids can explore the world of art in their own unique ways and I don't have to do any of the clean up! I simply get to enjoy their finished pieces and their beaming smiles of pride for their work. It is such an awesome place. I am so happy that I discovered it and I highly highly recommend The Artful Child for their pre-school program, after school programs and camps!

I cannot say enough great things about Jessie, Alana and the rest of the team at The Artful Child. The environment they create for the kids is exciting and stimulating yet calm and peaceful. It is literally the perfect setting for cultivating each individual child's imagination, creativity, confidence and independence. The kids are caring, respectful and empathetic to one another; all qualities that Jessie and her team emphasize in the classroom. I would recommend this preschool is a heartbeat.

Both of my daughters attended The Artful Child between 2016 and June 2018. I could not be more grateful to the wonderful teachers at The Artful Child for providing a warm, nurturing and educational environment for my girls. The teachers always welcomed the children so gently and warmly into the classroom and provided such comfort to them and thus to me.
In addition, the projects that they provided for the children to work on always turned out beautifully and inspired the girls to be budding artists! I was so delighted by the artwork that the girls brought home that I created an art wall to display it (see pic attached)! I couldn't recommend The Artful Child highly enough! It is a wonderful environment for children to grow and learn in a very nurturing and supportive environment.

This has been the most incredible experience for my little guy. He paints, he builds, he sings and most of all, he feels safe and happy! The culture of this lovely little school is laid back and all about the well-being of the kids. My son was very young when he started and he was very apprehensive. Jessica and Alanna were instrumental in making him feel safe and comfortable and gave him the confidence to take part in music and circle time and other group activities. Now, he honestly can't wait to go to school in the mornings.
Now that he's starting JK in the fall we have to say goodbye to this serious gem of a preschool, I wanted to share with other moms in the hood in case they were in search of a program like this. My only regret is that I didn't know about it for my first two kids!

The artful child is the most accepting and welcoming place for young kids/families.we drive from mimico to attend. We've been with the artful child since my oldest was 3, 3 years ago and it has been nothing but amazing. We have had the same teachers from the beginning and my 6 year old still loves coming for the after school program and she does summer camps.
My toddler will definitely be joining when he's 18months. My family now has the most amazing pieces the kids have made and it's total open ended and a free space for them to express their love for art. Recommend 100%.

As the mom of 3 kids who lived in both Vancouver and Toronto we have seen most of the typical preschool/JK programs - Artful Child has been the most outstanding one for our family. There is no other place like this that I have seen and was a magical place for my children. It has been a strong foundation for my kids who have the most vivid memories of Artful child as a place of pure contentment, peace and stimulation.
At the time, our ambitious education-based nanny had been a caregiver on Toronto's west side for over a decade - she had seen all the programs you could imagine. She was a firm believer that ONLY Artful Child could provide the necessary educational and creative base for learning from all the places that she had seen, and that NO other place was good enough for children in her care.
While initially skeptical that there could be such a place, when I brought the children there, I could see what she meant. Every component of the program is just better than others but more than that, there is just something about it, the kindness of staff, and how activities are run that make it a wonderful unique environment to learn and be in. My kids and our nanny's kids have gone on to excel in all subjects in school, and are moreover creative peaceful people. Looking back, I am truly grateful that I was able to give my kids this special experience when they were little.

My son came to The Artful Child after having been at two other high profile day cares in Toronto's west end and I can't stress enough how much happier we both were at The Artful Child! Jessie and her team are so patient, loving, and supportive - really ensuring that each child is comfortable and able to be themselves! They have various artwork stations set up for kids to explore with new items every day, then snack and circle time.
The best part is they have live music - a piano player or sometimes violin. It's a wonderful and magical place with the best teacher to student ratio around. If you can get in for the preschool program or the summer camps, do it. I only wish I had known about it to send my daughter there too.

If I could give 10 stars I would! Janette was fabulous when shooting my 10 day old twins. She is gentle, kind, caring and very clean! I was nervous having someone around my babies so young but 10 minutes after we met my worries disappeared. My pictures came out beautiful and we couldn't be happier. I would highly recommend Janette and her services!

Having Janette take my photos during my pregnancy was one of the best things I did. The session at her beautiful studio was fun. I had been having a uncomfortable pregnancy and wasn't looking forward to a session that day. However, to my surprise I thoroughly enjoyed my time with Janette and even momentarily forgot that I was not enjoying my bump that day. Janette is a super nice, super sweet and very patient person. I'll be back for sure for my newborn shots.

Janette is absolutely wonderful to work with! Even though my baby was four weeks old, which is well past the recommended ten days for newborn photography, she captured amazing photos in many different positions and with lots of really cute props. Janette was amazing at getting my baby to settle down and sleep through repositioning. It took a lot of patience and she was so lovely and gracious about it.
She brought all the equipment required for the shoot right in our apt and had so many great prop options. The final product was beautiful. We could not be happier with our newborn photos and loved working with Jeanette. I would highly recommend her to anyone!
