Hawk Photography

My fiance and I decided to use Hawk photography after an initial meeting with Daryl. Upon signing the contract, we were under the impression that an engagement shoot was included in the price- one of the motivating factors for going with Hawk. We scheduled it to be taken at his property in Wilton. It happened to be raining the day of our shoot, so I texted Daryl asking if we could reschedule.

He told me that his schedule was too booked to reschedule and that it was sunny on his property. I checked in with him twice more before making the 45 minute drive and he assured me the weather was clear. By the time I arrived, it was torrentially down pouring. After arriving at his property, Daryl immediately offered to reschedule- which was surprising and confusing because I made the trek because his schedule was "full." After waiting about 15 minutes there was a break in the rain and we decided to forge ahead. Daryl had another photographer (Keyvon) present to take our photos because Daryl had a broken ankle. Keyvon did not assist with posing, rushed the process, and even failed to notice that my fiance had his phone in his pocket.

After the shoot, we sat down to view our photos and were instantly disappointed. My hair was frizzy, there were water stains on my dress, and the posing was awkward. Daryl then broke the news that the sitting was free but we actually had to purchase our photos for $450. We told him we didn't want to purchase the photos; we only liked 2 of them. He responded "well I have to pay Keyvon for his time." thus we were guilted into purchasing photos that we weren't happy with.

He promised to throw an 11x14 print in for free which I never received. We had to postpone our wedding twice due to Covid, and I was having a bad feeling about continuing with Hawk after our engagement shoot. I posted in a Facebook group to see if people could share their experiences. The responses I got from both clients and vendors were alarming and echoed a similar experience and feeling that I had after our engagement sitting.

Because of these reviews, I emailed Daryl to tell him that I would no longer be working with him and to ask if $900 of the $2250 we had already paid could be refunded to me. This was two years after we signed the initial contract and had received none of the contracted services. He refused. I don't understand how someone can keep that amount of money after providing both minimal and disappointing services- it tells a lot about his character. In my experience, Daryl's communication is misleading. Save yourself the trouble and pick someone else.

It is what it is at this point. Our photographer gets 2 stars cuz he was a sweetheart. But hawk gets 0. We didn't get any of the photos we wanted to reinvent for ourselves. It's the most basic photos. Our day was great. But yeah. And I'm writing this because it took longe then the "honeymoon" to get any of our things. And also. He does not specify that the "complimentary" engagement shoot does not include your photos. (Which I previously reviewed him in.

And was asked by him to take it down cuz it makes him look bad.) You pay For Those. And Daryl really likes to sell sell sell. I'm sorry. It's nothing personal. But I just advise, unless your Rich and have a lot of money. He won't give you the time of day.

If I could give Hawk Photography 0 stars, I would. Our wedding was close to a year ago already and I hate looking at our wedding photos. It was a complete WASTE of money. Better photos could've been taken on an IPhone. Darryl insisted we used him and he would "give us a great deal". He offered us a "free" engagement sitting but had to be at his property and the photos were very poor quality.

Little to no effort on posing us. He pressured us into buying photos - we had to have engagement photos RETAKEN with another photographer. In the coming months that we'd be married our contracts had dates listed as to when the payments to him would be due, he hounded has for money before the payment dates. we finally paid him so he'd stop calling and texting. Finally, it's our wedding day. he spent more time eating and walking around our venue than taking pictures. THEN, tells our wedding coordinator "tell them to hurry up and cut the cake so I can leave" he then left an hour earlier than our contract stated.

This review is late in coming. Today we celebrated our 8th year wedding anniversary. We have no pictures of our wedding! The engagement shoot was horrible, reading through all the other reviews I completely agree that he didn't know how to make us pose, the quality was poor and then we had to pay extra for copies of the pictures which wasn't stated clearly beforehand.

On our wedding day, the photographer showed up barely on time. It was not Darryl as we had expected and had been told, but someone else who worked for him. The pictures did come out decent, but we never received a photo album which we had paid for or any copies of the actual pictures. We got a DVD of the pictures that ended up being lost in a move. Overall if I could go back, I would have saved us the money and the hassle and hired anyone but Hawk photography.

I really loved our engagement sitting and the fact that it was outdoors. Daryl was professional and knowledgeable as he posed us. I'm happy that we were able to involve our kids in the sitting. While the engagement sitting was included in the package - the photos are not, so asked questions - we didn't. With that being said, the quality of the photos were beautiful and I had to have them on display at our ceremony. My wedding was 9/5/19 so I'm still waiting to see pictures of the ceremony and reception. If they are anything like the engagement sitting I will be happy.

Daryl Hawk is the type of photographer that you want to call family by the end of the day. His soft-spoken, calm demeanor immediately puts you at ease and leaves you without a worry in the world. Daryl is kind, thoughtful, knowledgeable, and punctual when it comes to your special day. He is an excellent communicator and works with you to make sure you will have everything you are looking for. Planning, preparation, and day of organization is on target with Hawk Photography. Daryl knows what you need, even if you are not sure yourself. Daryl Hawk made my wedding day a lovely and magical experience. I would highly recommend Hawk Photography for your own special occasion. Daryl will make your day happier and easier than you ever thought possible.

I can not express how thankful I am that we found Daryl! From the first phone call to all the finishing touches. he made this entire process a gift. We can not wait to use him for our future photography needs! Daryl has such talent as a photographer, attention to detail and professionalism. You will be lucky to work with Daryl! Neither my husband or I have ever felt comfortable in front of a camera before being photographed by Daryl and his team. Danny( videographer), George (photo booth) and Daryl were so kind, fun, and knowledgeable that they quickly put us both at ease.

The session was relaxed and fun, which allowed for photos that captured both our personalities. When we saw our gorgeous pictures we were amazed at how we loved every single one. Beyond being an amazing photographer, Daryl is also extremely professional. He responds to emails quickly and goes above and beyond to make sure the entire process goes smoothly.

We feel so lucky to have found him and are so excited that Daryl and his team were part of our wedding! If you are looking for an amazing photographer I would highly recommend Daryl!

Daryl is a nice enough guy, but very much a salesman. Other vendors we had met with gave us all of their information, set prices, etc. and told us to go home and think about it. Daryl on the other hand wants you to sign right then and there, and will start giving free add-ons if he senses hesitation. My fault for allowing us to be persuaded, we ended up signing for a package that included a 'free engagement sitting'.

He will only allow this session to be on his own property, which while beautiful, doesn't allow you to choose a meaningful location. But we figured sure - it's free, no complaints. But it's not free. During the engagement session, Daryl posed us repeatedly in only three different ways. Right after, he gives you his camera and has you pick out what photos you want based on the image in the tiny camera screen, along with a price sheet.

There is no editing, even when photos absolutely require editing that you can't see because of the small screen. And that free engagement sitting - we spent over $600 on the cd of the photos and one print. It ended up more expensive than the flat $500 rate that many other reputable local photographers charge for their engagement sessions, which include all photos either on a usb card or online gallery. Taking all of the above into consideration, we ended up breaking our contract. We are so thankful we did - a photographer that makes you feel comfortable and understands how to pose the couple completely shapes your memories of your wedding day.

Hawk Photography are true professionals and artists. Their realism in each photograph captured the ambiance, feeling and emotions of our wedding day. Daryl from Hawk Photography has been amazing from the start. During the initial phone consultation, he was very informative, welcoming, and listened to what my husband and I wanted out of our wedding photos. He followed up with me throughout the entire year leading up to our wedding, and was always available to answer any questions that I had. He got to my wedding ceremony even before I arrived and was already taking photos.

So many of my guests came up to me telling me what a fantastic job he was doing. He was so friendly and all of my friends and family liked him! He showed me a few of the shots he got on his camera and oh my are they gorgeous! I absolutely cannot wait to receive my wedding photos. A photographer is one of the most important aspects to a wedding, for they are your everlasting moments and memories of your once in a lifetime day.

He took real candid shots, not just posed. This will show off a person's true self. You MUST choose Hawk Photography for your wedding day photos, I promise you will not regret it. I could not be more pleased with his services.

It was a joy to work with Daryl and Hawk Photography! He is a professional. We had several phone calls and emails leading up to our event for over a month to solidify plans for the wedding day. We discussed the different photo combinations of people, where the photo locations would be, and handling finances was a breeze. Daryl is extremely friendly and makes you feel as comfortable as possible to lessen any awkwardness you might feel about having your photo taken for 2+hrs. He really wants to you to get what you want. We are so thankful to Daryl and happy to have him be part of our wedding memory.

I was so happy I choose Hawk photography and Video. We fell in love with their work and that they were very familiar with our venue. I contacted them constantly and they were very flexible with getting back to me and changing things throughout the process. Daryl took us step by step throughout the whole process and never made me feel stressed. They were very professional and arrived on time on my wedding day. The team captured what I wanted and we felt very comfortable.

I met Daryl from Hawks Photography & Video in early 2018 at one CT bridal expo's, me and my fiance at the time ended up winning a free engagement photo shoot. Once we looked st the pictures from our engagement shoot we knew we wanted him for our wedding. Our wedding date was 2/24/19. Daryl made sure he was on time even though I was not. He was patient and gave good direction. Daryl pays very close attention to details and makes sure he gets the best shot of a pose before moving to the next one.

He takes his profession very seriously and makes sure your day is a perfect as it should be. Daryl was amazing and if I was in need of a photographer for any future event it would be with Daryl from Hawks Photography & Video.

After not hearing back from Daryl after months of contacting him we accepted that we would just need to take a loss on the awful work he provided us with. Now I see that he commented on our review which he lied on so I wanted to clear it up. For one we were extremely pressured to purchase pictures when we went to out "free" engagement shoot we were lead to believe we would get free prints.

I do not believe for a moment that it took 50 hours for the editing for our video and I will GLADLY show anyone who would like to see it and they can have an opinion on it. The thing that blows my mind is the lie about the videographer driving to our home. Daryl sent us someone else's video and WE drove all the way to the videographer's home to get our video which was over 45 minutes away from where we live.

I also have emails and text messages showing the conversation stating we drove there. I cannot believe someone conducts business this way and lies about the whole situation. On our contract, Daryl said it would be either him or his partner shooting my wedding. My mother made sure of this because she didn't want someone that was subcontracted to shoot our wedding. It turns out his "partner" who showed up was someone he subcontracted. My wedding photos did not turn out like the elaborate sales pitch that Daryl advertised.

Many of them were out of focus, and I wish I hadn't made the mistake of choosing this company to photograph such an important day in our lives. I was fortunate enough to have family and friends take decent photos at our wedding. I just wish I hadn't wasted thousands of dollars on this mistake.

Choosing Hawk Photography for our wedding was a great experience. Daryl Hawk was a kind, artistic presence on our big day and a pleasure to work with. He listened so what we wanted and got some beautifully shots that he had an eye for - including sepia tones and Thank You Daryl and Hawk Photography!

We used Hawk Photography for our wedding 5/19/18 and are so happy we did! Our photographer Erik was prompt, and easy to work with. He took amazing photos that captured the essence of our love and the fun of the day. He took the time to make sure we got every photo with family and loved ones on our list and also took great candids. His ideas about photos of just us are our favorites!

I used Hawk Photography for my wedding photos just a couple of weeks ago. With my package, I got a free engagement sitting. We met Daryl at his studio in Wilton, CT where he took about 100 photos in 30 minutes. Afterwards, we went inside and look through the pictures to see if we wanted to order any. The sitting is free, but you do have to pay for the enlargements.

We ended up getting 1, 8x10 photo and 3, 5x7 photos. We received them pretty quickly in the mail, which I was excited about and they came out great! Daryl was our photographer on the day of our wedding and he was excellent at communicating with us leading up to the event. He was at our venue early and ready to go. He took beautiful photos including the first look with my dad and husband.

He made sure to get the photos I had asked for on a shot sheet that he requires. You don't even notice he is there, but he takes such beautiful photos that capture the whole day perfectly. I am thrilled with how the photos came out. He checked in with us shortly after the wedding and we received our photos a few days ago (our wedding was August 25). Lots of people don't get their wedding photos for many months or up to a year, so I was extremely excited to get them so quickly! They came out PERFECTLY!

Whilst planning our wedding my wife and I had one primary stress point. finding a good photographer. We have been too many bridal expos and had met with Hawk photography a few times, at our last bridal expo we set a date to meet with Daryl and i must say he was absolutely professional helping us pick out what package would fit our small wedding. We were on a tight budget and he had no issue helping us make out day special.

He was very clear on what information he needed from us and we provided what he needed in order to make the process as seamless as possible. The reviews on this company do not lie there is a reason they have been in business for 30+ years. The Day of the wedding Jennifer our photographer was with my wife taking photographs of her getting ready and she was an absolute pleasure helping her pose and feel comfortable taking pictures and helped keep the environment a stress free as possible.

Throughout the day she was pleasant to work helping us pose at the park, our family and friends all said she was wonderful, very attentive, personable, and professional. I would 100% do business with Hawk photography and would 100% recommend them to any couple looking for a top notch experience

Daryl is only a salesman. He broke all his promises to us right before the wedding. He tried to back out of the job after he was paid by having someone junior in his place. He was lazy and took minimal pictures.most which are not even worth a frame.

I've hired Hawk Photography for when my husband and I got married. Daryl is very informative, personable, and friendly. He made sure we had everything we needed to make it an invaluable and unforgettable experience. The pictures were taken inside his home. He was welcoming and forthcoming about the process. It took no longer than Daryl promised and it was a pleasurable experience overall. My husband and I have gone over them recently and it reminded us to leave a review to this company. We both recommend!

My husband and I used hawk photography for our engagement sitting back in Feb 2017. The quality was amazing. In April, 2 months before our wedding we lost our wedding planner as well as the photographer we hired under her almost a year before our wedding. With two months prior to our day, we asked Daryl if he had availability being so close to our wedding and it being wedding season.

He had availability and worked a great deal for us. On our wedding day 6.17.17, our photographer from this company was Derek. I must say he was absolutely amazing, prompt, professional, and funny. He directed us for every photo and mingled well with all the guests. It was a blessing for them to service us and making our day even that more special. I would recommend them to others for all occasions. We thank u. Looking forward to seeing our pictures.

Photos= 5 star, Timeliness= 0 stars We went with Daryl for our wedding pictures on October 14 of last year. The reason it took so long for this review to be put up was because we JUST received all of our items per our contract. It took 1 year and 11 days for us to get our final item. It took many, many emails throughout the course of the year in order to get our items.

It was not until we put up a few "negative" reviews that Daryl contacted us and attempted to expedite our items. All this being said, the photos were excellent, album that we received came out great and we are very happy with it. If you want great photos and do not care when you get them, this is the photographer for you. If you do care, I would find another company.

Agree with the other commenters. It took forever for my wedding albums to be ready. Due to their own mistake, they printed up several photos that I didn't select and prepared them for my albums. It took them over a year to notice. After countless emails clarifying exactly which photos I wanted, they again printed up a bunch of incorrect ones and it took several months for them to contact me about it.

About two months later, I finally have my albums and there was still a mistake which will now be in my album forever. They were barely apologetic and sent me condescending emails. The only compensation they offered was to give me the rejected prints that they printed in error. Additionally, the photos are very low quality. People's faces are blurry in some of them or the lighting is too dark and worst of all, when they printed up the photos, people were cut out.

I selected a photo of my parents and parents in law handing over our Jewish marriage document to us and my father in law is entirely cropped out of the picture. The album itself is also low quality with the photos poorly mounted. Whenever I look at the album, I don't think of happy memories from my wedding; instead I think about this terrible process and how disappointed I am by the photos, especially the incorrect one and the ones where people had been cropped out.

Daryl Hawk is what I would consider a scam artist. His only interest is in getting his money. The packages that they had all seem reasonable however, once we signed a contract with Hawk Photography and gave a deposit, it was a whole different ball game. My husband and I nicknamed Daryl Mr. Additional Charge. Every time I called with a question, Daryl was rude and condescending and made it seem as if I was a bother to him.

In the end, we lucked out because Daryl did not actually take the pictures or video our wedding. I was extremely happy not to have to deal with his attitude on my wedding day. Daryl outsources all of his work to other photographers. Luckily, the videographer and photographer were amazing. Looking back, it seems amazing that photographers actually showed up to our wedding.

It took us a long time to get our proofs and finally our album. Its also a good thing he outsources the album making. It came out really nice but I am 100% sure he overcharged us especially considering that he runs his business out of his house. Please do NOT take this review with a grain of salt if you are shopping around for photographer. I met him at a booth at a bridal fair. BUYER BEWARE! P.S.

Please read Daryl's comment on the other review listed here. It is a total lie. The photographer and videographer told me themselves that they were subcontractors. They were awesome and I have no complaints with them. It is the principle of bate and switch that is a bother.
