My family's experience with Ross was very pleasant and we were very satisfied with the services provided, we came in for passport pictures with my twin boys of 2 year olds, the lady who took the pictures( sorry I forgot to ask her name) was so professional and really did great taking the right timing to get perfect passport pix for wiggling and fussy toddlers, they do a lot of other things too! A must try!

I came in today for a Fieldprint appointment for a new job that I was recently hired for. I had no idea what to expect or what this visit would entail and the gentleman (I feel so bad that I did not get his name) was BEYOND wonderful. It was 12 noon on a Saturday and he was the only one in the shop working. There were 4 other customers in the shop when I arrived for my noon appt, and not only did he manage to greet me when I walked in - he juggled and multi-tasked through us all!
He literally helped us all at the same time! He took a kids passport photo while I filled out some info he needed, answered another customers questions from a far - the man was incredible! It is SO beyond rare to see that level of customer service, dedication and commitment nowadays. I am so use to being ignored until it's my "turn" - seriously, I almost wish my appointment was longer because he literally had me in and out in less than 10 mins! It's just really rare that there's a business who still operates on values and old school morals.

I had a great experience here developing some b&w film from my wedding. I was worried the pictures wouldn't turn out as the light meter didn't work on the camera (an old pentax), but the employee was very helpful in asking questions about the lighting conditions and provided additional service in developing the film for longer to ensure the best photos possible. They turned out great, and the photos were emailed to me within the week. Great service!

I have used their film developing service for a while to check on consistency and after a couple months -- I would NOT recommend getting your 35 or 120 film developed here. Lots of streaks, scratches, and dust. They cut into an exposed part of my film too. Take your precious film elsewhere or do it at home.

I visited Ross Imaging Center in Hamden, CT and the employees were very warm, professional and knowledgeable. They assisted me with all my concerns and were very accommodating. I felt like they valued each customer that walked through the doors. Thank you Ross Imaging Center for such courteous service today.

Ross Imaging Center does superb work and the owner, Mike Ross, is such a nice person! I had a rush photo project of sentimental value that needed to be done in 24 hours and Mike was able to complete it without charging me through the roof. The finished product was excellent and my family loved the photos. I will definitely be a repeat customer. Thank you Ross Imaging Center!

I was floored by what an amazing job Ross Imaging Center did with restoring a portrait photo from my childhood. The photo was one of only a couple I had left, but had been damaged and faded over the years. The finished product was strikingly beautiful, a piece of my childhood that I will proudly display and cherish for years to come. Heartfelt thanks for bringing this photo and the associated memories back to life!
I must add that I was equally amazed and pleased with the work Ross Imaging did on some more recent pictures I took. Again, the finished products were spectacular. I can't wait to hang these treasures in my home! A top notch business that I highly recommend and will be utilizing in the future.

The price is reasonable, but the prints are fair at best. If you aren't super particular, you'll probably be happy. I found the prints to be overly contrasty, a bit dark and noticeably lacking in fine detail, Ok if you are a snapshot photographer, but if you are looking for a fine print to show off the capabilities of your premium gear and carefully considered editing, you'll want to go elsewhere.
If you aren't happy with your print here, well, it's definitely all your fault and if you suggest otherwise the guy will literally yell at you, not a great experience. I figured it was my admittedly annoying perfectionist nature, or I caught the guy (Mike) on a bad day, but I have since met others who have had the same experience (including the yelling).
I won't be going back. Most local photo printers are a crapshoot, you cross your fingers and hope for the best, this place is the same, but here you might get crappy prints and get yelled at. The "art of the fine print" sign on the door was encouraging, but mediocre to "ok" is likely the best you'll do here.

First-time customer; Mike helped me develop a large photo project with a quick turnaround! I was impressed with the final prints and the enlarged mountings were absolutely stunning - I got so many compliments on the photos! Customer service here goes above and beyond, a welcomed surprise. I will be returning to RIC for photo processing in the future.

My wife and I have used Ross Imaging Center since the owner Mike Ross was our Wedding photographer / videographer in 2007. Since that time he has done all of our family portraits, Anniversary photos on the beach as well as our daughter's pregnancy photo shoot & of course passport photos. I would highly recommend Ross Imaging Center to anyone looking for A++ high quality, professional photography services.

I have been using Ross Imaging Center for my printing needs for several years now. The actual printing quality has been excellent regardless of the size and type of paper I request, the turnaround time has been quick and I am very glad that the owner contacts me with questions if there are any issues before printing. The owner has also given me advise as to future printings which has been very helpful. I would recommend this business for holiday card printing, business card printing, negative processing and photo printing of any kind.

I moved to the area from Hartford and needed a place to develop my film. I still use 35mm and 120. I went in to check it out and dropped off a roll I quickly took just to see how fast and reliable Ross is. The turn around time is reasonable and the negatives came out great. I don't print my negatives. I just develop and put the negatives on a cd. everyone there was courteous and we got into a good conversation about cameras.
I came back with a good roll. When I came back to pick it up, they lost the negatives. He remembered that he still had the images on his computer when he scanned them. He burned another cd for me and said it was free of charge. The place is nice. It seems to me that if there is an issue they will resolve it to the best of their ability. I like the place.

Ross Imaging is a great local business run by a talented photographer. They're a one stop shop for printing and can help out with framing and off the shelf photo books as well. You'll get much better service here than if you'd gone to the local pharmacy. I have never hired them for video transfer like a previous reviewer, but as a photographer myself I can vouch for the quality of their printing and other services.

Worst and rudest customer service I have ever experienced in my life from a retail store. Went with what I thought would be a relatively simple task - to make a keep sake photo book from recent travel. Had all images in my iPad mini. Mike, who I believe was owner, was astonishingly non helpful and rude. After selecting and burning Images onto cd so could then edit and crop - turns out he didn't even have the technology to edit and browse!
Could not even try editing pics with black and white or sepia! After short and rude comments from Mike, I left. Would never do business there again. Turns out Snapfish and other sites have better technology on line as does Walgreens with their photo kiosks. Walgreens on DIXWELL Ave was really friendly and helpful and their technology far superior!

Such a great local print shop. I had to order prints for a show happening two days later and Mike kindly agreed to rush the order for me despite being really busy himself. The art prints (two 12x18's) we're super high quality, amazing color/texture, and done at a reasonable price. Will definitely be back.

Do not use Ross for video projects! I had hoped that this local place would be my solution for converting all of my family's home video to DVD without needing to send these precious tapes through the mail and risk damaging or losing them. I decided to try 5 tapes to start. Upon pick up, we were told that the tapes were low quality or in bad condition and therefore the transfers were the best they could manage.
When I reviewed the DVDs side by side with the VHS tapes, I was shocked to discover the loss of quality from the conversion. While I know that some loss of quality is natural, there were entirely new artifacts and quality issues that were not present on the original tapes. In one case, the DVD copy was 20 minutes of static with a 30 second blip of video.
The corresponding VHS tape played 20 minutes of clear footage. I was also upset to discover that my tapes had not been taken care of properly as they were not rewound, setting them up for damage the next time they're played. The owner of the company, Mike and his manager Jillian were rude, refused to accept that their transfers were below industry standard and the only solution offered was for me to return the tapes to them for a redo.
At this point I had no intention of returning my tapes to a company that doesn't know the basics of Video 101 (when I mentioned that the tapes weren't rewound, the response was "Well were you ever going to watch them again?"). After multiple phone calls, they ultimately agreed to refund me for 2 of the 5 tapes. I accepted it because being out $60 bucks is better than being out $100 and quite frankly I was sick of wasting my time dealing with such uncaring and nasty people.
This company takes advantage of the fact that most people no longer have VHS decks and will not watch their tapes again, nor question the declaration that their original tape was low quality. I work in the industry and can attest that their work is sub par and their attitude toward an unsatisfied customer is flippant and totally unsatisfactory. After being assured by the owner that his company does tons of big business, I asked him if it was really worth letting such an unsatisfied customer out in the world over such a small job.
In reply he snapped that I could write a bad review if I so wished, well here it is. Save your money and time, this is a photography shop that should not be dabbling in video.

Being a Photography major at a local art school, I was recommended to come here by a professor to get some color negatives developed. The place itself is tiny, but what photo store isnt these days? Being a first time customer you get 10% off your purchase which is lovely! I plan on making many trips back here to get film developed, the staff was wonderful and a pleasure to do business with.
