You'll find Busath Studio & Gardens at the corner of South Temple and 700 East, in the historic Evans mansion. We love this old English Tudor house and the modest gardens that surround it. It provides beautiful settings that others can't match. 100-year-old ivy covered brick, and mature gardens lend a classical English flair to the portraits created here.
Inside you'll find two ultra-modern studio spaces with glowing natural light. The building also houses an extensive printing lab. All Busath portraits are retouched, printed, glazed and framed right here by our team of master artists.

Our families experience with Buseth Photography was exceptional. The entire staff was attentive, professional and very kind to our family. Photographing eight different families is a herculean feat, especially with so many little ones. The attentive care we received from beginning to end was amazing.
You can request to view images from past sessions at Busath. While there is no guarantee that all images are available, we're happy to show you what we find in the archive. This is a free service. We're proud to report that Busath has made every effort to keep important film negatives from sessions dating back to 1973 when we opened our doors.
Garden Portraits here at our historic South Temple property are very popular from May to October. Late-morning sessions offer ideal light for groups during the summer time. In the fall, almost time of day works. And don't worry about the weather, we have some great tricks for adding sunshine' on gloomy days.
Studio Portraits at our historic South Temple mansion can be scheduled anytime, rain or shine. We have several options for settings, from light, airy rooms for casual portraits, to rich painterly backdrops. In-studio portraits can be accomplished for groups up to 75 people or so. Garden Portraits here on our property are very popular from May to October.

Busath always does such quality work! We have come to them when each of my kids have turned 3 years old, to have a nice photo taken of them. The photos always turn out beautiful. The grounds at Busath are built for photo taking, with many cool photo op spots. Their photographers are too notch and also know how to get little kids to smile (even if the kid is tough to crack). I highly recommend this well-established business. It's a staple in the community of Salt Lake City!

We decided to focus wedding funds on photography, and that's why we picked Busath. Richard Busath and Laura Casey photographed our engagements and wedding, and we absolutely loved working with both of them. They were fun, professional, and ended up being incredibly helpful with getting us through our reception on a decent schedule. They interacted great with the guests and captured everything we wanted. The studio was also very responsive, courteous, and easy to communicate with. Would highly recommend!

I love this photographer. They were able to capture our family in the perfect moments! What can feeling like chaos with a toddler, a very energetic 5 year older, two tweens, and two dogs, is handled very professionally at Busath. I have no idea how Drake does it, but he and his team are fantastic! We've now had photos done here twice and both times I've been very happy with the photos.
They may be a bit pricey and they don't operate like photofly or camera shy, but they definitely are worth the money. We did get some digital copies although not really high quality, enough for Christmas cards and social media. They do keep the high res digital files and do have a copyright so you do have to pay for what you want printed.

My daughter's senior/graduation portraits turned out beautifully. Allison Staheli helped us with our final selections and was very flexible with our appointments as well as patient with me when decisions were hard to make. Also- upon ordering I needed a fast turnaround. I paid the 'rush fee' and Busath delivered for me as needed without skipping quality.

Is Busath more expensive than other photographers? Yes. Is it worth every penny? Absolutely. The photographers are extremely professional and very helpful in getting the best picture for you, such as telling you to tilt your head, stand up straighter, etc. etc. Everyone always looks AMAZING in the pictures and then even better after they edit out fly-away hairs or people in the background.
If you just want a pretty good picture, you could go somewhere else for less. If you want the best picture of you and/or your family you've ever seen, then go with Busath.

Busath neglects to disclose all of their fees. They get you all excited about photos that might not look so great ("oh we can swap bodies and faces so everyone looks awesome all in the same picture, " they said multiple times during our sitting and during our photo review session.) But when I called to order a 5x7 (which cost $79), Linda told me it would cost $50 per body/face swap, bringing the total cost of one 5x7 to $179.
I expressed surprise and Linda sheepishly sighed and said, "Yeah." It's disappointing that Busath wasn't upfront about all the charges so we didn't waste our time and theirs. Needless to say, I didn't place an order and I won't be giving them future business.

Busath Photography is The Best Studio, not in just Utah but all areas. They are Masters at their art! Their customer service and quality of product can not be matched. Having been a professional photographer for over 10 years I can say you will not be disappointed but receive a portrait treasure!. I highly recommend them to all.

Busath Photography has won Best of State for the last 6 years for a reason. Their work is timeless and truly artistic. You won't find another studio around with 3 generations of master photographers. The staff (including photographer, assistants, front desk, and sales consultants) were all friendly, accommodating, and professional. My family had a wonderful time with our session and couldn't be more pleased with the end results.
We had the pleasure of Drake, the owner, taking our pictures. The studio environment was fun and the grounds are beautiful. Give Busath a try, it'll be worth your time and money!

The finished product was great but I was not impressed with how strict their copy-rite policy is. I can't even use the photos for our Christmas card. I will have to go through them. They are super expensive and with how many photographers out there, I think I could find someone that is just as good, with less strict policies at a fraction of the cost. Will not use them again.

I am delighted to recommend Carrie Ryan at Busath Photography! We had a great experience working with her. She is an incredibly talented photographer. She has a great eye and a gift for setting camera shy people at ease. We are so pleased with our daughters bridal pictures. They are stunning! We could not be happier with our experience.

We have never been disappointed with the results from Busath! They create timeless pictures that will make you want to stare at them for hours! The way they do lighting and posing is timeless and always natural and beautiful. I would recommend checking package prices against your budget and request a photographer so you are sure you get one with a portfolio that matches your expectations.
That being said, even when we had a photographer that didn't please us as much as others we still came out with amazing results that everyone loved. Their editing and quality is high end. And they are absolutely wonderful at getting little kids to look natural (all 6 of mine, including my infant triplets). I am always amazed at how they capture genuine personalities and are great at focusing on subject, not scene (which I love and request). They are an amazing studio for those portraits that you want to keep forever.

This studio is as good as it gets. We have had family portraits from all over the country before we moved to Salt Lake because of working for Delta. These are by far the best photography place we have ever used. The prices are great for what they offer. We have spent much less money at Busath (because of the great value) than any place we used in Atlanta for example.and my gosh look at the pictures in their studio. They are beautiful. Great service and a great experience. Since moving to Virginia we wish we were able to visit this studio often.

Not impressed. My husband and I won the sitting from a fundraiser, and we were very happy with our photographer (Richard) and our experience with him. However, I think the price of Busath's photos are outrageous, $130 dollars for one 8x10 is more then I am willing to pay. While we were reviewing our images, we were told that there was a 200 dollar mandatory deposit.
We wanted to order five 8x10's, but I was not ready to pay 600 dollars for pictures. We ended up ordering one 8x10 (to take care of our deposit money), in the middle of October. We were told that our order would be ready by Thanksgiving. When Thanksgiving came around, I called to see if our picture was ready. I was told that they needed a proof number to know what picture they needed to print, although we told them what picture we wanted when we called.
They did not seem to be bothered to call us to ask what proof number they needed, even though it had been over a month. This was mentioned to them on the phone, and we were told that the picture would be rushed and done by the end of the week. It is now Tuesday of the next week, and I have not been called. I will not be returning to Busath.

Let me start by saying my reviews aren't rants (check out my others), but I feel compelled to write my review of Busath given our experiences there, the most recent happening just a week ago. We've had Busath photograph our wedding, both of our kids infant pictures, their annual pictures and most recently our family pictures. We have spent thousands of dollars here, and go back because they take great pictures.
The service, however, is mediocre at BEST and at times, it's downright rude. We've had services issues nearly every time we had pictures taken here. Here is a sampling of the issues: Once a picture came back with equipment showing in the picture they forgot to crop out (amateur mistake). Another time there were scratches on a final picture and they argued with me for 10 min., they finally agreed to fix their mistake.
Last week we were getting our family dressed in the dressing room only to be interrupted to pay the sitting fee and to make a follow up appointment. I paid the fee and when I told her my phone/calendar was in the car, she insisted that I go get it. Meanwhile, my wife is left alone to get everyone ready. After paying $120 for our sitting fee, Dave gave us 20 min max to have our family pictures taken.
Not to mention Dave's assistant did NOTHING to help get our kids attention. She was awesome at holding a white board tough. If you go here, you'll undoubtedly be impressed with their wall of fame, but trust me, it comes with arrogance that resonates with nearly everyone who works there. Now they'll go on to win another Best in State award. Good for them, but I'll be taking my money somewhere else.
